CAS
CAS consists of three strands, Creativity, Activity and Service, and is about the education of the whole person! CAS is one of the core components and is a mandatory part of the IB Diploma. Not meeting the CAS requirements leads to Failing Conditions.
CAS Aims
The CAS program aims to develop students who:
- Enjoy and appreciate a range of CAS experiences
- Reflect in a structured way upon their experiences
- Identify goals, develop strategies and find new ways for personal growth
- Explore new possibilities, take on new challenges and try out new roles
- Understand that they are members of local and global communities with responsibilities towards each other and to the environment
- Are active participants in long-term, collaborative projects
How the student should work with CAS
The student should be continuously involved with CAS for at least 18 months and preferably on a weekly basis. It is important to have a good balance between the three strands.
Creativity
Exploring and extending ideas leading to an original or interpretive product or performances For example dancing, theatre, music or art.
Activity
Physical exertion contributing to a healthy lifestyle. For example participation in expeditions, individual or team sports
Service
Collaborative and reciprocal community engagement in response to an authentic need. For example working as a volunteer, helping charity organizations
Our CAS Coordinators are here to guide students through this process and to help students deal with these new challenges.
